From the initial decision to introduce x-ray services into your practice to your first State inspection, we are your one resource for products and compliance. Our team of professionals will work with you from the initial design phase throughout the registration process, acting as your interface with State regulatory agencies.
For all ionizing producing x-ray machines (excluding bone densitometry units), a shielding design should be submitted to the appropriate State agency. This includes low dose units such as mammography units as well as C-arms that may be used in a fixed location for pain management or orthopedic procedures. Even though lead shielding is not always required by design, a report of the shielding determination should still be submitted to each State’s regulatory body.
Please access our shielding forms here.
Other installations that should be considered for shielding designs are PET and PET/CT suites and gamma cameras with attached CT components.
Once the layout of the room and the equipment placement has been determined, a shielding design must be developed and submitted for review and approval. We will develop and submit the design to the State on your behalf. All documents submitted to the State will be provided to you so that you may retain for future State inspection purposes.
After all required shielding has been installed, a shielding integrity survey must be performed to determine if the shielding has been installed according to the design specifications. Documentation of the integrity survey must be provided to the State agency as part of the registration process.
