A shielding integrity survey is required by most States as part of the registration process. This survey ensures that all shielding is installed according to specifications outlined in the shielding design.
After all required lead shielding has been installed, a shielding integrity survey should be scheduled and performed. This is accomplished by an on site visit, which takes approximately 1 hour per room to complete. Any voids noted in a shielded barrier must be corrected and a repeat integrity survey scheduled before a certificate of completion can be provided.
Documentation of the results of the integrity survey must be provided to the State agency as part of the registration process. Any leaded windows and/or doors must be in place prior to scheduling the survey.
